The businesses and visitors heading for the industry meetup at Lake
Constance are equally as diverse as the world’s outdoor hotspots. From 17 to 20
June 2018, international market leaders will be taking part in Europe’s premier
OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen. More than 950 exhibitors from 40 countries
will be showing their entire product collections and service portfolios for all
areas of retail. There will also be numerous interesting industry innovations and
trends to inspire retailers and make offerings even more varied.

industry visitors. The 25th OutDoor covers everything from apparel and footwear
to backpacks, sleeping bags, tents and camping and climbing equipment. Service

With the new Retail First Initiative, Messe
Friedrichshafen is focussing more strongly on retailers. Retailers and
wholesalers in the outdoor and sport sectors will benefit from the new range of
services, as the target group “OutDoor Retail First trade visitors”. In addition
to free entry to the show, retailers also enjoy priority booking for the nearby
Eriba City accommodation. The other target group of “OutDoor trade visitors”,
who are not directly connected with trading, include employees in the outdoor
and sport sectors from industry, agencies or travel and event organizers. “Our
new invitation management system is based on a more specific selection
procedure and simplifies matters in two ways: trade visitors benefit from free
admission to the show and exhibitors save themselves the trouble of having to
obtain guest tickets. Furthermore, we avoid multiple tickets being ordered for
the same dealer and further increase visitor quality,” says Head of OutDoor/
Eurobike Stefan Reisinger, explaining the advantages. Outdoor trainees also
benefit from the new concept: The OutDoor Trainee Day offers special expert
workshops, tours of the show, and opportunities to explore and learn more about
the “outdoor spirit”.

new look: Lifestyle Collection, HangOut, Water Sports and Running. Launched
initially in 2017, they have been very well-received. OutDoor project manager
Dirk Heidrich put it like this, “These Plus themes allow us to dive deeper into
these segments and offer trade visitors additional benefits and added value
beyond the core outdoor segment.”
Jubilee edition – OutDoor for all
Everyone is welcome at the trade show’s jubilee
edition. OutDoor 2018 is more than just a platform for the international
outdoor industry. Top athletes and outdoor sports enthusiasts will also be
making their way to the trade fair at Lake Constance. With the German
Bouldering Championships (restricted access to separate competition arena in
Hall B5), a microadventure event in the Lake Constance area and the Midsummer
Festival on the lakeshore at Friedrichshafen from 16 - 17 June, all outdoor
fans will be able experience the outdoor atmosphere.
Water Sports at the 25th OutDoor
New in the
Water Sports Area, in addition to the canoe & kayak areas, SUP, swimwear
and accessories, there will be an action area in the Atrium with a
specially-installed pool. This means that the OutDoor fair has created an
adjoining area to the busy Foyer West to showcase the diverse aspects of water
sports to interested visitors. Similar to the trade show lake, the pool can
also be used for product testing and demonstrations. Once again, the supporting
programme includes a fashion show, numerous workshops, activities and

a continued focus on running. The OutDoor Running Center will again serve as a
central information platform and attractive exhibition area for running
experts. A specially-created market place will be showing all the latest
trends. In addition, the Run & Trail Summit will once again be bringing
together important media representatives, manufacturers and trade
representatives around the table to create a diverse information and discussion
forum on the latest trends in the running industry.
HangOut celebrates outdoor lifestyle
The Open Air Exhibition Grounds West will be celebrating the
happy-go-lucky side of outdoor life with a creative exhibition space inspired
by al fresco joie de vivre. Brands offering cooking equipment, outdoor games,
and camping furniture will all be taking it easy at the HangOut area.
Lifestyle Collection: The market place for urban explorers
Similar to last year, the OutDoor show is devoting a dedicated area to urban fashion. The Lifestyle Collection in Hall A6 will be presenting products designed for both outdoor and urban use. It offers the ideal platform to harness synergies and network in a relaxed atmosphere.
Industry know-how – get fit for the future
2018, sees the OutDoor Conferences continue to present and discuss the industry’s future trends and issues. Topics covered include: “Fashion & Colours in Outdoor Clothing”, the digitalisation of fashion, purchase decision-making processes and sustainability in textile production. Moreover, OutDoor trade show partner, the European Outdoor Group (EOG) will be providing an overview of the European outdoor market and presenting the latest figures in its “State of Trade” market research report. The conference and presentation programme is free of charge and offers retailers and manufacturers alike important industry insights and insider knowledge.
Widely respected seal of quality – OutDoor Industry Award 2018
The outdoor industry’s most important award sees its 13th edition. Outdoor equipment manufacturers can register their latest innovations for the OutDoor Industry Award until 7 May 2018. The winning products are announced at the grand award ceremony on the first night of the show and placed on prominent display in the Messe Friedrichshafen Foyer East. Young companies and student projects receive special support. Start-ups, whose products win an award, are offered a free Messe Friedrichshafen advertising package, reduced entry fees and the opportunity to present on the OutDoor Stage.
Various accommodation options for all budgets
For OutDoor 2018, more than 270 hotels in and around Friedrichshafen offer a wide range of accommodation to cover every requirement. And for visitors who prefer camping, there are also plenty of options near the showground. The ERIBA Caravan City is situated just a few minutes from the East Entrance – this year it enjoys 40 % greater capacity. And the OutDoor Camping Park and surrounding Lake Constance campsites are in near vicinity and easy to reach. In addition, there is lots of private accommodation on offer, for example via Airbnb, in Friedrichshafen itself and the nearby towns of Lindau, Ravensburg or Überlingen.
OutDoor Party & Networking Lounge
to network in a relaxed atmosphere or take a break? The OutDoor Networking
Lounge in the Atrium is the ideal location. It’s open throughout the show and
also doubles as the venue for the OutDoor Party. The legendary event takes
place on Tuesday, 19 June, and Messe-Express shuttle buses
will be on hand throughout the evening to take party guests free of charge to
the harbour station/ ferry dock and Friedrichshafen railway station up until 00:55.
