Exhibitor statements OutDoor 2018:

Roland Tyson, Founder and Managing Director Sea to Summit:

“The OutDoor show is the most important event for us. This year again, we have flown in with 13 team members from Australia and we are exhibiting all our brand-new samples. The long journey is worth it, because we know that we can rely on visitors coming, on the programme and above all on the fantastic atmosphere here at Lake Constance. We are seriously impressed by the high level of interest in our products and the enthusiasm for outdoor sports. Once again, OutDoor has put on a great show to inspire the entire industry. Everyone walking through these halls is delighted to be a part of it.”

Andreas Schechinger, Managing Director Tatonka :

“OutDoor 2018 was once again a very successful show. The presentation of new products and our brand took place in the customary professional and international setting. In particular, the show is very important for us for managing our retail contacts from the German speaking countries. Despite the uncertain future and the EOG’s decision to hold the show in Munich in future, from our perspective there was no negative impact on 2019 Spring/Summer orders. Along with many of our customers, we would have welcomed it if both trade fair organisers could have clearly communicated their concepts for the future to the industry during the show itself. Regardless of which setting we exhibit in next year, we would like to say thank you to the entire Messe Friedrichshafen team for 25 years of successful and cooperative working together in building an independent outdoor industry.”

Simon Wu, Founder and Owner Piorama

“We are here for the first time and we were very surprised by the number of “high-quality” visitors at our stand compared to other trade fairs. We have made a lot of contacts and are really pleased with the whole show with its lovely grounds, super atmosphere and great offer. We are exhibiting in the Lifestyle Collection area. It’s the ideal location for us, as visitors here are very open to new brands and new ideas. The whole design of the area is great. The organisation was smooth and effortless. We are happy with the event here Friedrichshafen.”

Thomas Bucher, Press Spokesperson Deutscher Alpenverein (DAV):

“We are very happy with our presence here at the OutDoor in Friedrichshafen. Firstly because of the German Bouldering Championships that we held at the show. There was a great atmosphere at the competition, it was well attended and ran perfectly. And our stand in the Foyer West proved once again to be a great meeting point.”

Christian Schneidermeier, CEO Ortovox:

“Personally speaking, I think it’s a great shame that this is the last time this show will be held in Friedrichshafen. Lake Constance is such a superb location and there is just such a great atmosphere. Our industry is all about emotions – and that is something that has always worked well here.”

Jan Schapmann, Managing Director Marmot Mountain Europe:

“The show has gone well for us. It gave us the opportunity to talk concretely with customers about our products, innovations and marketing strategies and we had many important discussions with partners across the industry. The OutDoor is an important communication platform for us, we are delighted to continue to develop the format together. Sure, the focus is less on individual products and technologies than it used to be. At the show, we were talking more and more often about common strategies and business models, so that together with retailers and industry colleagues we can respond to the changing requirements of the market.”

Steffen Sator, Owner Out-Trade GmbH and Faltboot.de:

“As a manufacturer of ultra-light pack rafts and portable rucksack kayaks, outdoor and sports retailers represent an important group of customers for us. The OutDoor is an important institution, not just for managing customers, but also for customer acquisition, especially as we reach a very wide and very international clientele, which is not always the case at special interest trade fairs. For us, it’s also really important to show the industry that foldable and portable boots are here to stay, and deserve a place in large numbers of outdoor and sports shops. The excellent feedback that we have been getting for years from discussions here at Lake Constance confirm that we are on the right track. At this jubilee edition show, things have gone very well for us and we look forward to seeing where the OutDoor is headed in future. Lightweight, packable kayaks or rafts are an exciting prospect for an enormous group of end consumers. They greatly extend possible options for “getting outdoors” and provide retailers the opportunity to offer customers real added value and reinforce their position against the opposition.”

Waltraud Lenhard, Managing Director Leki:

“Basically, we are happy. Although customer flow has not increased during the past two years, quality is spot on, and customers plan carefully to see to us. We’ve been exhibiting here at OutDoor right from the start. This continues to be a very important show, as personal contact is crucial.”

Christian Wolfsegger, Sales Manager Dachstein:

“We’re pleased with how the show has gone. Actually, we expected a slightly lower customer frequency, but still managed to see our important customers. In our opinion, the trade fair is a very important meeting point for the industry.”

Peter Wöstmann, PR Manager Ortlieb Sportartikel:

“This was a very successful trade fair for us with loads of good talks. Of course, winning an OutDoor Industry Gold Award for the Atrack remains a real highlight. This had an amazing impact – we got a lot of great feedback.”

Georg Haas, Director Outdoor Blogger Network (OBN):

“The Bloggerbase and the Influencer programme for the OutDoor have once again played an important role in shaping the modern approach of the whole outdoor industry. The trade show, influencers, exhibitors and visitors all benefit from the future-orientated partnership between OBN and Messe Friedrichshafen.”

Nora Kühner, Nora Kühner – Fashion, Design, Consulting:

“What a great show, what a super setting and what fantastic weather! The rooms were packed to capacity for my two presentations and I spoke to experts from all over the world – including Poland, America and South Korea. I am delighted to see the topics Colours & Trends in Outdoor Clothing and Product Development and Digitalisation are so popular.”

Jochen Lagemann, Managing Director Europe & Asia PrimaLoft:

We do feel melancholic about 25 years of the OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen. And we are very grateful for the visionary role that Messe Friedrichshafen has played in developing a platform that has contributed to the sustainable growth of the industry. Despite the low number of visitors, we had a lot of good meetings and talks with our brand customers. For us as an ingredient brand, the show is an important event for finalising the next few years and also simultaneously supporting the industry with current campaigns and selling.”

Mike Wallenfels, Hydro Flask Vice President International Sales.

“Hydroflask had a very productive OutDoor fair, meeting with all our key customers, agents and distributors . We plan to continue to come to OutDoor and enjoy the atmosphere. Thank you for hosting a fun and effective show.
