Crowdfunding - Does it still work?

We’ve seen brands get started and progress with simple crowdfunded projects, as well as ensure demand exists before production takes place, effectively pre-selling product. Sites like Kickstarter have ushered in yet another avenue of sales and product awareness, but they have also led to failed projects, consumer disappointment and brand tarnish. Reaching an audience and getting individuals to buy in at several different levels is an art, however, now that this piece of the DTC model has matured a bit. While crowdfunding is robust in the US, it is less common in Europe. Can it be a tool to access new markets and does it have viability locally?
