Urban commuter jacket.

Award   START-UP WINNER 2017
Category   Start-up

Jacket for city use and also tough outdoor weather conditions. In October 2015, we saw an inflow of people seeking refuge here in Europe. With that a new adventure began for many Europeans. I became filled with passion to make the most of the so called refugee crisis. To create something new through and with the resources of the arriving people. Products that would not have been developed without them. I met Kasem Dahboura. Before leaving Syrian, he started and managed a clothing production company near Damascus. We had our goal: Setting up a sewing workshop producing high quality clothing. Made here in Germany, Working together with those who had to leave their fatherland.

Outstanding in the following evaluation criteria

  • Degree of innovation
  • Workmanship
  • Sustainability
  • Added value

Jury Statement

The concept behind this jacket is very worthy of a reward. Vaterland has successfully set up a production system where refugees living in Europe use their skills to make high-quality clothing.
